RIAS Doolan Award – Nomination
Our sensitive restoration and retrofit of the modernist house, High Sunderland, has been shortlisted for The RIAS Doolan Award 2022.
The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award is one of the most significant architectural awards in the world, and the pinnacle of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland’s annual architectural awards programme.
High Sunderland is a careful demonstration of the technical expertise required to sensitively upgrade and improve iconic historic buildings, so they can remain to be celebrated and enjoyed for generations to come. This is an extremely unique project that gives more than just original aesthetic back to the home; it has been improved and executed by a dedicated client-architect partnership.
It is also the result of many peoples skills, expertise, ideas and commitment. Thanks must go to the skilled craftspeople who delivered the project Laurence McIntosh. The expert conservation engineers David Narro Associates, Steve Wood, and the ingenuitive of Harley Haddow, Martin Stewart & Mark Napier.
We must however pay particular thanks and offer our sincere congratulations to our clients, who brought their own ambition and sensitivity to the project in pursuit of doing what was best by the building in order to safeguard its future.
The project as a result, has set a high standard for the impending future of modernist restoration work across the world.
