Dezeen Awards 2022 – Longlist

It has been announced that our project ‘Ceangal House’ in South Lanarkshire has been longlisted for the Dezeen awards 2022 in the Rural House category.

As a contemporary working farmhouse we wanted to create a building that was rooted in its context and the history of the site.

The courtyard home echoes the language of the original steading, organised in an L-shape to provide shelter from the unforgiving Scottish landscape. The material from the original buildings on-site have been salvaged, reused and incorporated into the final design in order to reduce its overall impact.

Much credit must be given to our client whose ambitious brief asked for an ‘outstanding home of architectural interest’ and their passion drove us to push our proposals.
