An Office and Two Houses Wins RIAS Award

Loader Monteith has won a RIAS award for our projects in Bunchrew overlooking the Beauly Firth, just outside Inverness.

The Judges’ citation reads as follows:

This mixed-use development transforms a tricky brownfield site into a tranquil haven for cycle enthusiasts. Offices, bike storage and residential accommodation for the mountain bike hire business owners are contained within two low-energy timber buildings, carefully positioned within the landscape. The judges were impressed by the project’s deceptive simplicity, thoughtful planning and attention to detail, and by the architects’ successful relationship with their client and contractor.

We are very proud of the project; Euan and Cat (our clients) have been fantastic and we’ve no doubt will continue to be as we move into the next phase of the work. To us, the project demonstrates that with thought and imagination, architecture can really add value in the most unlikely of building sites as this plot sat unsold and unloved for years before Euan and Cat took it on.

A huge thank you to the judges for their recognition, and to RIAS. Our sincere congratulations to all the other shortlisted and awarded practices – it’s an honour to be in your company; we’ve looked up to you for years.
